Sculptures by Jeanine Woollard and Nicole Mollett
The Artists Nicole Mollett and Jeanine Woollard have responded to the decadence of the King’s Chambers to produce a series of sculptures that play with the notions of extravagance, and exclusivity, ideas that occur frequently in a Palace environment.
There are strict rules to the order of things everywhere at Hampton Court; this is embellished by the fact that it is now a museum. Although disguised as existing furnishing, the sculptural objects have a life of their own and tilt the rules of this order, creating small pockets of chaos and sensuality. ‘Fit for a King’ is an intervention into, and celebration of the Palace’s elaborate and magnificent past.
